Staff photographer Dean Koepfler is a native of Toledo, Ohio. He studied journalism at Bowling Green State University.
He has worked at the Salem (Ore.) Statesman-Journal and The Detroit News before coming to the staff at The News Tribune in 1990. In 1996 he was named National Press Photographers Association Regional Photographer of the year.
Koepfler has been covering the construction of the new Narrows Bridge for the last four years for the paper.
Koepfler built his house on Puget Sound’s Fox Island where he lives with wife Liz, and sons Jordan and Evan.
